Established in Prishtina, Kosovo, in 2024, the Institute for Urban Resilience and Development (IURD) is a research-driven think tank shaping the future of cities through urban resilience, sustainable planning, and transformative strategies.
We collaborate with leading researchers, policymakers, and institutions to redefine how cities adapt, evolve, and respond to environmental and social challenges.
The mission of the Institute is to advance scientific research and develop solutions that enhance the capacity of cities to adapt and recover from climate change, flooding, and other urban challenges.
The Institute fosters sustainable and adaptive urban development through the dissemination of research findings, the formulation of advanced policies, and collaboration with local and international institutions.
By introducing innovation and best practices in urban planning and development, IURD aims to improve the quality of life and enhance the resilience of cities and communities. This is achieved through concrete projects, public education initiatives, and the promotion of knowledge on emerging technologies and contemporary practices in urban resilience.
The Strategic Agenda 2025 defines IURD’s key priorities in **sustainable urban planning, climate resilience, and responsible resource management**.
This agenda aligns with SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, emphasizing **circular economy principles, urban sustainability policies, and innovative urban resilience solutions**.
